The Amada Bench by Matthias Pliessnig

Matthias Pliessnig has sent us some photos of his latest creation, the Amada Bench.

Description from Matthias Pliessnig:
Amada was designed for a private client who wanted a large bench flowing through his space. I designed the piece to direct the sitter to face multiple directions due to the functions of the space… this helped to dictate the initial design. In other words, the ebb and flow of the piece is directed by the function of the space. It was also originally designed in Rhinoceros (3d modeling software) which helps familiarize myself with the general geometry of the form and allows me to visualize the concept. Amada is made completely of air-dried responsibly harvested White Oak. I am currently in the final stages of building pieces of a larger scale which were influenced by similar stimuli.
